The UBC Girlz Bhangra Team is a dynamic, high energy dance team, which has taken both Canada and the United States by storm since 2002.  This team is easily recognized as one of the Bhangra Elite in competition circles across North America. The UBC Girlz have helped to revolutionize and raise the bar for women’s bhangra, being one of the first all-female bhangra teams to not only enter the competition circuit, but to place at the top of heavy weight competitions such as Bruin Bhangra, South Beach Bhangra, Zee TV, Bhangra Blast and VIBC.

This team is well recognized in the South Asian and mainstream community worldwide. They have been invited to participate in numerous community events and entertainment shows, including Bollywood productions, music videos, and fine arts documentaries.  The UBC Girlz Bhangra team has been featured in the Canadian Geographic Magazine, and team artifacts have been inducted into the traveling BC museum.  In addition, these women were selected to perform during the 2009 Juno Awards, and the 2010 Winter Olympics opening, closing and victory ceremonies and celebrations in Vancouver, B.C. 

This team is a representation of the strength and pride of not just Punjabi women, but women at large who have stood the test of time and have risen with their heads high over trials and tribulations that have come their way.  The UBC Girlz invite you to share their milestones and precious  moments.
